Soccer "End of the Season" Picnic

It has been a few days since our "End of the Year" soccer picnic. But I forgot blog it!!! I thought these cakes were beautiful. My friend Gayle made these.:) Blake and his coach!!!

Chloe and her coach!!
This was such an awesome season for the kids. It wasn't because we started winning for the first time in 3 years(although that certainly helped), but because their new coach was wonderful. In fact, he made it into Chloe and Blake's L2L speeches. He was such a great christian example to the kids. The Homeschool Hornets were 8-2 this year!! YAY!!!

Sewing along....

Today is day 5 of being in the house SICK, so far I have sewn 3 purses, started a quilt purse (picture to come..not finished yet), planned another quilt, planned all my christmas shopping, listed things on ebay for extra Christmas spending money, read 4 books, helped the girls crochet scarves for Christmas gifts, taught Camye to applique (interesting since I dont even know how myself..LOL), reorganized my sewing room, watched 10 seasons of Little House and the Prairie and mastered Super Mario Brothers for 200th time.

Anyway...here are 3 bags I just finished. I thought they were pretty cute. The pink and black is actually a ballet bag ( cute pink ballet slipper fabric )for Camye, the americana purse is for my mom for Christmas, and the teal and green one..I think I will carry!!! My mom doesnt get on my blog unless I walk her through it so she is banned until after Thanksgiving (when we are celebrating Christmas with my family) from my blog. I also am going to make her an americana table runner.

Paul's First Quilting Request

It seems the older my kids get the less they ask me to sew things for them. So when one of them ask me to sew something for them, on them, for their friend, for their class ..whatever it may be!! I jump on it!!! I am working on a quilt for Chloe right now and Camye's new ballet bag. But Paul had never made a request yet....well he finally did and asked me to make a backpack!!! Of course, I think a backpack!!!!!!!!! What?????

Well I found this adorable backpack pattern and this was it. I let him pick out the colors for his pocket. I did do some simple quilting on the bag and the pocket!!??? That counts right:)

He kept having me take all sorts of pictures of him with his new backpack. He loves it!! He filled it right up with all sorts of things....even a dog bone, which is co-op preschool teacher showed promptly after arriving.:)

Pumpkin Patch Primitives Giveaway

Campus Martius

The same day we visited The Castle we also visited Campus Martius in Marietta, Ohio. Campus Martius was a 1788 fort for pioneers. It was soo awesome!! What was even greater for me, was when I was in the 3rd grade and we lived in Marietta, I went on this field trip with my 3rd grade class. It really has changed they had sooo much more!!

Below, Chloe is getting to use a weaving machine.

The kids also pariticpated in candle making...very interesting process.
Blake and Reese weaving by hand.:)

This real Indian fellow...showed the kids the weapons and marched them around with these massive heavy wooden guns!!!
Paul was just too cute...and so excited to be a big kid!!

oops....enemy crossing...Paul is taking care of it.

Chloe was behind this tree trunk....it was supposed to be over 400 years old.

They had time period clothes in all sizes...although Camye and Paul were the only two that took advantage.:)

Paul...Revere???

2. Soccer being over!!! Except for the end of the season picnic on Monday...!! We are done!! Next year though I will have one on Middle School and the High School team!!!

3. Camye's L2L speech is finished...now if she can just read it in a timely manner, now onto the other 2 kids speeches.

4. My wonderful husband....who does whatever he can to make my life easier.

5. Blake's easy going personality.

6. Paul's sweetness in asking me to make him a backpack...(blog coming soon)

7. Chloe's independence and helpfulness

8. Christmas shopping...that is started. Not as far along as I usually am but I have started!! I hope to have the time to make a few gifts.

9. that I am able to Christmas shop. So many are with jobs. We are doing several service projects this year and picking an angel off of a tree to buy for.

The Castle~~~Marietta, Ohio

Last week we went on a great educational field trip to "The Castle". It was so much fun!!! We went with a homeschool group from Marietta that we do not belong too but one of my best friends runs it!! So I got in on this field trip.

I thought they could have been a little more creative with the name.???
Part of the group that went.:)

The kids made Kaliedoscopes that were treasured toys in the early 1800's.

They also made a meal in the summer kitchen. They made beef stew in the brick fireplace which was an original, baked cornbread and applesauce cake on hot coals (very interesting.) I always wondered how they baked without an oven. They also made their butter. I only have pics of Camye and Blake doing this because I was in their group.
Also I have no pictures inside the castle because of the pictures causing the artifacts to age. It was soooo beautiful!!! I love American History!!!

1st Annual 4H Pumpkin Contest

This year all the local 4 clubs were offered pumpkin plants to grow and hopefully recieve the Grand Prize for....$500. Ours weighed in at a whopping 9 pounds!! The winners weighed 322 pounds!!! Chesapeake Energy donated $2000 for this party and it was a great party!!

Camye and her new friend Le-Lan from Texas:)

Our pumpkin may have weighed 9 pounds but it did win for the roundest pumpkin!!!
They also had a decorated pumpkin contest...we didnt win. But we sure had fun trying!! Chloe and her bunny pumpkin!!

Blake and his Cat in the Hat pumpkin!!

Camye and her "Pinkalicious" ballerina, princess, fairy pumpkin

Paul and his apple with worms:)

There was also a Club Scarecrow contest. Our club wasnt entering one but since Chloe is planning on running for president this year she thought she would try to win the club the prize of $75!!! She didnt win!! But she did a fantastic job on her scarecrow!!

Last but not least, they had "Food Fear Factor". Only 10 participants, were chosen. Of course, my kids were picked but then 9 kids dropped out when they first saw the food, including my kids. So they asked if any adults would like to join in!! Of course,....Kenny did. He and another contestant both ate raw oysters, beef tongue, beef testicles, white fish, anchovies, a cup of buttermilk, a cup of mineral oil and a LIVE gold fish!!!
Both contestants won $25..which Kenny then donated to our 4H club! He put on a great show!!

Paul ~~ as cute as ever!!

I thought this was the sweetest picture. When my mom and I went to Amish country the other day, I purchased 2 bushels of apples, one for applesauce and the other were Honeycrisp...our all time favorite apples for dried apples and to eat fresh!!

The other day I found Paul in one of the bags of appes ...yelling, "Help the baby is stuck in the apples.!!!" He is soo cute and adorable!!! I love how he refers to himself as the baby at times and at other times tells me to keep it a secret!!

Kennywood ~~ One last time:)

We had extra Kennywood tickets and had to go one more time before they closed for the season!! We all went with our great friends "The Parks". We all had a blast!!!

I am proud to say my kids are officially Roller Coaster Lovers!!! Paul was very sad he couldnt get on the super fast ones because he wasnt tall enough!!
Okay our kids are a bit of a freak show..we couldnt resist this photo op!!LOL!!

The Rogers family...September 2009!!
